C.M. Gray

C.M. Gray

Author C.M. Gray

Biography

C.M.Gray grew up reading books from a variety of genres, but was especially drawn to fantasy and anything set within a historical background. He always loved books that paint pictures for the mind showing long ago times allowing the reader to experience what it was like to live in a completely different world; he still loves to read.

As a writer, his books, of course, tend both to historical and also fantasy. Many of the experiences he has had whilst traveling the world for thirty years, in Asia, Africa and the Middle East come to life in his writing.

His first book, The Flight of the Griffin, was a finalist in The Times/Chicken House literary competition 2013, and follows the adventures of a group of young friends as they battle demons and bandits on a magical quest to stop the world from tipping into Chaos. His second book, Shadowland, is also winning much acclaim, it blends fantasy with history as an old storyteller takes his audience back to Britain's dark ages and the birth of the Arthurian legend.

Born in Essex, England C.M.Gray has been lucky to live and travel in many countries around the world, spending very few years in his native England. He has worked as a carpenter, a fruit picker and even spent a stint working as a stockbroker in Hong Kong. Home has been Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayas, the clamour of central Hong Kong to a farm in deep rural Burgundy. Today he lives and writes from his home in the hills just outside of Barcelona in the middle of the forest with his wonderful wife and two rather scruffy dogs!

There are now four published C.M.Gray books; The Flight of the Griffin now has a sequel, Chaos StormShadowland now also has its companion ‘Uther’ tale published in May 2016, titled, The Shadow of a King and continues with the life of Uther Pendragon fifteen years after the events told in Shadowland.
